In Green Class we were all very busy the last couple of weeks of the Spring term, so thought we'd share what we've been up to!
In Science we've been learning about electricity, including: what uses electricity, how to stay safe and how simple circuits work. We explored different components and made a range of simple circuits, some of us even added a switch or additional cells to experience what happens:
In art, we explored 'black and white' using the style of Jackson Pollock. First we learnt all about the artist and his style, then we listened to music and recreated the splashes and scraping used in his work; this was really messy and lot of fun!
In D.T. we used our learning about space to explore rockets, including hearing about how they are designed and made. We were then supported to design and make our own rockets that move using a bicarbonate of soda and vinegar reaction. We loved counting down 5,4,3,2,1 and waiting for our rockets to take off!
We have been developing balance and agility using a range of equipment this term in P.E. last week we used our new skills to take part in a 'Ninja Warrior' circuit! The children all worked fantastically during these sessions and really enjoyed the tasks. Lots of children were also able to cheer on their peers as they each took a turn. In addition to this, we have been exploring competitive games through playing 'New Age Kurling' which we really enjoyed:
As the term ended, we said goodbye to HLTA Gill Parr who has been a regular part of our class team this year. We helped Gill to paint tires to make planters and planted lots of interesting plants in our new sensory garden. These will be a lovely lasting reminder of all the happy times we shared with Gill :)
We hope that you enjoy your Spring break and look forward to all the fun and learning we will have in the Summer term where we will begin our new topic 'water'.
