Fun with Fractions!

The children have been learning all about fractions, in lots of different fun ways! We started by learning about what halves and quarters were and how to find 1/2 or 1/4 of a shape or an amount. We sliced food items to share with our friends, coloured in pictures, shared out toys and iced cakes to show our knowledge of fractions:

We furthered our knowledge of fractions using smarties. First we counted how many of each colour were in our tube and then looked at our keywords 'numerator' and 'denominator'. We used our findings to write out the fraction of each colour in the pack and compared our results using pictograms. We love finding fractions all around us :)
