A busy few weeks

There has been a blur of activity once again at Hinderton over the past weeks. We have had so many activities which have been memorable and exciting for all of the children. If you check out the other class blogs you can see some wonderful pictures of what has been going on. Some highlights have been our Roman Day and Family Celebration. It was great so many people attending and we were so proud of the contribution of all the children on that day. A big thanks must go out to Lorraine for organising the event which really brought history to life.

I was also very proud of all the pupils who attend our second Football Festival at Moss Farm in Northwich. This event was organised by Cheshire FA and involved schools from all Cheshire Special Schools. We have had a number of pupils attend and the quality of football on display is improving all the time. One feature which was wonderful to see was the sportsmanship with the players shaking hands with their opponents and learning to enjoy the game together.

We have also had some big changes to our school office during the Easter Break. Ricky has worked tirelessly with the builders and they have done an excellent job. We now have a newly expanded open office space, in which Liz, our School Business Manager, now works alongside Debbie Ludgate, Debbie Bridge and Sue Hayes. This new way of working has hugely improved efficiencies in the way we work, and the children have responded really well to the change. We a have a regular series of visits from curious pupils, and the verdict was that the new office is 'beautiful!'

This change coincided with a launch of our new Management Information System which is called Arbor. You can find out more about Arbor here. This exciting new system has hugely improved the efficiency and security of essential information in school as well as making it much more easy to access for class teams. There are some exciting new features for parents and guardians which we hope to roll out in the next academic year. These include:

• online payments for uniform and dinner money and trips
• access to your own child's information for attendance and SEN information
• Reports and pupil progress data
