Hinderton School has a long history of working closely with other schools. This has involved school to school support and advice as well as training and sharing of best practice. We are partners with a range of special schools, both within Cheshire West as part of the Cheshire West Special School Heads Association (CWASSH) as well as a pan Cheshire group, the Cheshire Special School Consortium (CSSC). In addition to these SEN groups we have always been actively involved in the local community of mainstream schools.
A recent development of this association is the creation of the Ignite Teaching School. Hinderton is a strategic partner in Ignite with a particular focus on Continuing Professional Development for new and serving school staff. This has been a very rewarding area for our school to be involved in and we have had a fantastic year in terms of providing high quality training and support to local staff needing additional training and support in meeting the needs of children with autism and other special needs.
Ben Reading, our Assistant Head has also qualified as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) and in this role has been supporting a wide range of schools and improving outcomes for children with ASC across our local area.
Hinderton Staff have also benefitted tremendously from the provision of high quality curriculum training, alongside their mainstream colleagues, delivered locally at an affordable price.
Today I am representing our school at a meeting of all of the schools that making up our teaching school alliance. It is an opportunity for our school to further develop out local links with our community as well as learning from the Outstanding work going on across Ellesmere Port.
