Over the last two weeks the children have been learning to mix substances together and predict what might happen. The children mixed shaving cream and then carefully mixed yellow and red food colouring together to make orange. An adult then added a small amount of black then the children used chop sticks to create stripes. In the image above you can see the paper plate with the mixture on, a piece of paper was laid on top to create a tiger print. Another group worked together to mix different shades of green and brown paint and painted it onto large sheets of white paper. Once dry, leaves and tree trunks were cut out.
On Wednesday the pupils heard information about the French Artist Henri Rousseau and talked about one of his famous paintings 'Tiger in a Tropical Storm'. Using the prints and cut outs the children glued them onto blue paper to create their own style of Henri Rousseau paintings. We think they look fantastic!
